Has anyone ever done this?

From: Wilson (ph0t0bug@bellsouth.net) | Date: 2004-09-07 21:31:29 UTC
I was thinking of leaving a little gift to the first person to find
my Lb once I place it. Nothing of great value but special just for
that first person. I noticed that there are papers you can leave the
person but I have something cute in mind..... any ideas?

Small trinkets, etc have been left as a first finder reward. We found
a WOM box first and there was a little certificate from the placer;
it had the box name, and the image on it. It was very nice, and is
mounted in our logbook (we're on # 3 now).

We tend to stray away from including trinkets...personally we feel
thats more along the style of another hobby. As far as first finding
itself, we've only be the first finders twice, once WOM and once for
Steve's B-Day box.

Good discussion topic though!

Hey Photo
I have left things in the past but only at hard to get to boxes.
Things like the LbNA patch or window sticker. I wanted to get some
hiking staff metals for first finders but that didn't happen. I
also ask the person that if they won't use it leave it for someone
that will. Don't know if anybody has taken them since I haven't
been back to those boxes since I planted them. Everytime I order
LbNA things I get a few extra to hide.

I have heard of first finder cerificates, origami, and I know of one
placer who occasionally leaves tiny plastic or clay items resembling
bugs.

I had a Lewis and Clark series of mystery letterboxes and I left a
replica of the Medallion that Lewis and Clark gave to the indians as
a first finder prize.
I have also found boxes that had as first finder prizes:
A small blown-glass pig ( the placer of the box was Funhog)
and a gift certificate for a coffee shop ( It was an urban box and
you walked past the coffee shop on your way to the letterbox)

I wasn't first finder on a box (the person who found the box first decided to
leave the prize for the next deserving soul) but second finder and got an EMS
gift card :-). (Before you say... well, perhaps she didn't know it was
there.....I know that this first finder left it because I asked her about it :-)
